Electricity Metre Reading, Billing and Collection of Charges

To Enhance the livelihood aspects of Women SHGs, Mission Shakti in Convergence with Department of Energy has engaged women SHGs/ SHG Federations in Electricity Meter reading and charge collection activity. Women SHGs have been engaged by Distribution Companies (DISCOMs) of GRIDCO Limited under the Energy Department across the state. A comprehensive guideline covering the selection procedure, engagement and incentive pattern has been formulated and followed to smoothen the involvement of SHGs in this activity. The formulated guidelines are operational for new SHG engagement and for those previously engaged SHGs who wish to change their existing incentive pattern.

Features:

• Women SHG/Federation takes up the meter reading, billing and bill distribution and carry out MBC activities for single phase and 3 – phase consumers of domestic, GPs and PI category under DISCOMs.
• DISCOMs  make payment of remuneration/incentives to the SHGs/Federations as agreed upon.

Engagement and Incentive:

• Selected SHGs go into agreement with DISCOMs upon deposit of security money with DISCOMs.
• SHGs are provided necessary training by DISCOMs.
• SHGs maintain the books of records as prescribed by DISCOMs.
• SHGs submit its monthly bill to the Junior Manager of corresponding section of specified sub division under concerned electrical division.
• SHGs are paid on monthly basis as per the approved incentive pattern.
