Skill Based training for SHG members to undertake Agri-based income generating activities in convergence with OUAT

This is a convergence programme between Mission Shakti and Odisha University of Agriculture & Technology (OUAT), aimed at improving sustainable livelihood opportunities for women SHGs in the agriculture sector. The objectives of the convergence programme are:

• To provide skill based training for 3000 SHG members (@ 250 members/KVK by twelve KVKs) to develop their competency to undertake Agri-based income generating activities.
• To provide support in project formulation and hand holding support in project implementation.
• Create successful cases of economically empowered SHGs for upscaling and outscalling.

Keeping in view the feasibility and suitability in different districts, training on seven Agri-based enterprises have been undertaken for SHG members.

• Oyster Mushroom Production
• Vermi compost Production
• Nursery raising of vegetables
• Bee keeping
• Poultry Farming
• Goat Farming

Under the convergence programme, Directorate of Mission Shakti facilitates selection of SHGs based on the feasibility of the enterprise and the level of maturity of the group in operationalising the enterprise.

Further, twelve Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) have undertaken the activities focusing on one or two enterprises per KVK, selected based on the strength of the KVK and feasibility of the enterprise in the district. Each selected KVK engaged one Technology Agent to coordinate activities and follow up the implementation process regularly.

Besides, Directorate of Mission Shakti also plays a pivotal role in facilitating financial and market linkages of the trained SHGs.
